Physical documents and cards proving right of residence will be replaced by online visas at the end of the year

UK residents who have lived here for decades are worried that they could find themselves “locked out” of the UK at the end of the year when the government’s controversial eVisas come into force.

The scheme means many physical immigration documents such as a biometric residence permits (BRP) or biometric residence cards (BRC) need to be replaced by online visas, which critics have warned do not work properly.
